Tori Wells, RN, worked for many years in a hospital environment, before training as an Appearance Nurse Specialist. Tori has been administering Botox® and dermal fillers for the past five years, perfecting her craft over 3 years at Palm Clinic, before coming together with Face. Tori has a true understanding that all treatments must work in harmony with all the other facial features and we feel fortunate to have such a talented and dexterous appearance medicine specialist .

ABOUT BOTOX
BOTOX ® Reducing lines and wrinkles
Botox® is an injectable proceedure that can be used to relax specific facial muscles that cause expression lines in the upper face, i.e; crow’s feet, forehead and glabellar frowns lines.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Botox? Botox is a natural, purified protein that relaxes wrinkle-causing muscles creating an improved appearance. The active ingredient is botulinum toxin type A derived from bacteria in much the same way penicillin is derived from mould. It is manufactured in sterile laboratory conditions.
How does it work? It relaxes specific facial muscles that cause expression lines, once relaxed they are unable to contract thus smoothing the skin and preventing new line formation. It only takes 2-3 days for Botox to begin to take effect 7-10 days for full effect.
What does the treatment involve? A small amount of Botox is injected into selected facial muscles with a very fine needle.
Does it hurt? Discomfort is typically minimal and brief, no anesthetic is required.
How long does it last? Botox gradually wears off between 3-4 months. After this time the lines will slowly begin to return, although repeat treatments tend to allow the effect to be more long lasting.
Are there any side effects? Botox therapy has been used medically for many years in large doses. The doses used for appearance medicine are minute in comparison therefore the side effects are usually temporary and localized to the area of injection.
If I use Botox will I look frozen like some of the celebrities do?
This is a common concern and one that we are very aware of. Many of our clients don’t tell anyone that they have this treatment done, the idea is to look great not strange or frozen.
Is Botox right for me?
This treatment is not about looking younger rather looking great for your age. More and more people are discovering that Botox makes them look fresher and more youthful. If you feel that you are looking tired or your frown makes you look worried or angry then Botox may be for you.
Do men get Botox too?
Botox is not restricted to women only. Many men work in areas where good grooming is essential and they feel that Botox is just a step within their male grooming, along with the gym and a good haircut. For other it may be that the appearance of a strong frown conveys an expression of stress or anger. Botox is a quick, effective solution to a man’s line’s and wrinkles
Botox® is aPrescription Medicine containing 100 units of clostridium botulinum Type A toxin complex. It should be administered only by trained medical professionals. Cautions: people with defective neuro-muscular transmission disorders, presence of infection at site of injection, glaucoma, pregnancy and lactation.Possible side effects include headaches, pain, burning or redness at injection site, local muscle weakness including drooping eye lids, lack of feeling & nausea. What is a Dermal Filler? The new generation range of Dermal Fillers we offer are made of non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid which is manufactured in a sterile laboratory condition. They are crossed-linked, a process by which individual sugar chains are linked together to forma kind of ‘mesh’ which takes the body much longer to metabolize, therefore they are much more long lasting than regular dermal fillers.
We use a ‘range’ of fillers to ensure that the best results are possible in each treatable area.
The more highly crossed linked filler, (juverderm ultra plus, teosyl) is used for deep dermis volumising and contouring and the less crossed linked, (juverderm ultra) is used for more superficial treatments
How does it work? As the body ages the amount of natural hyaluronic acid begins to decrease resulting in the aging of our skin. By replacing the hyaluronic acid via injectables we start to reverse those signs of aging by returning volume to the tissue.
The hyalouronic acid attracts water to the treated area which results in hydrating and plumping of the skin.
Does it hurt? We either use a dental block to numb the area before treatment or a filler that contains an anaesthetic making it a virtually pain free proceedure.
How long does it last? Trials indicate that the products may be present between 6-12 months depending on the area in which it is used, the amount of product used, your age and lifestyle. Afterwards the product is absorbed naturally by the body leaving no trace of the filler.
Are they any side effects? Immediate and short lived side effects can be swelling, redness, pain and bruising. Excessive bruising and allergic reactions are uncommon.
